with Coordinated School Health

 
  Kids for Health®, on behalf of the Springdale School District, has been chosen to receive funding through the Arkansas Department of Health in cooperation with the Arkansas Department of Education of School Based Coordinated School Health and Tobacco Prevention Programs.

What is Coordinated School Health?  The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has identified eight inter-related components for Coordinated School Health Programs.

Health Education

Counseling Psychological and Social Services

Physical Education

Healthy School Environment

Health Services

Health Promotion for Staff

Nutrition Services

Family and Community Involvement

 

A coordinated approach to school health increases the likelihood that staff and students' full range of needs are addressed and a full array of programs and services are provided.

Outcomes of CSH include:

Reduced absenteeism

Fewer classroom behavior problems

Improved academic performance

Greater interest in healthy diets

Increased participation in fitness activities

Delayed onset of certain health risk behaviors

Less smoking among students and staff

Lower rates of teen pregnancy

 

Springdale School District and Kids for Health® in cooperation with the Arkansas Department of Health and Arkansas Department of Education are dedicated to optimizing the health and educational opportunities through implementation of Coordinated School Health.
